The Undernet Promotions team is pleased to announce a decade retrospect on the history of IRC called "A Decade of IRC: Family and Friends Forever". The event will be held on August 29th, 1998 at 3:30pm EDT (7:30pm GMT) in #liveevents on the Undernet IRC Network.For this event, we have invited people who have made a difference in IRC over its 10 years in existence:
- Jarkko Oikarinen (WiZ) - Creator of IRC in 1988 and maintainer through 1991.
- Khaled Mardam-Bey - Creator and maintainer of the most popular Windows client, mIRC.
- David Low (Super) - Former Channel Service coordinator / Senior Channel Service admin.
- Robin Thellend (SeKs) - Creator of X/W and Channel Service admin.
- Carlo Wood (Run) - IRCu maintainer and Coder-Com coordinator.
- Dafydd James (DuffJ) - DALnet coding and services coordinator.
- Darren Reed (Avalon) - IRC developer and maintainer since the beginning.
- Helen Rose (Trillian) - Development team coordinator, mailing list/documents maintainer for several years.
